Welcome to Your New World of Writing!

Welcome to the site where kids get to write their own Bluebonnet Stories. Every kid in Texas and throughout the world has a story to tell about their neighborhood, their friends, families and pets, including all their favorite places both at home and in their vacation travels.

Now you can take Bluebonnet the Armadillo with you with all your favorite people, pets, and places and share your adventures together. Only this time, YOU GET TO DO THE WRITING!!

So where would you like to go? What experiences would you like to share with Bluebonnet? How could Bluebonnet help you explore the places you already know? Would she make these places more of an adventure? Wouldn’t you both help each other discover new learning experiences?

Bluebonnet Visits Schlitterbahn – by Marji Bishir

Once upon a time, Bluebonnet the Armadillo got hot. Very hot. It was a summer afternoon in Texas, and it was over 100 degrees. Bluebonnet decided that she needed a river vacation. Somewhere with cool water and lots of tasty bugs to eat. So she went to New Braunfels, Texas, home of the Comal and Guadalupe rivers. The waters in these rivers are fed by natural springs, so they are about 65 degrees all year around. Ahhhh!

Bluebonnet went down to the river’s edge. She saw fish swimming in the clear waters, turtles sunning themselves on the banks. One turtle looked lonely. She called out to him and he saw over. Howdy ma’am, he said. My name is Tommy Turtle. Watch out for people who float down this river, he warned. Sometimes it gets loud and crowded. Bluebonnet was puzzled. Why do people do that, she asked? It’s fun said Tommy.

Cars were whizzing past, full of people in swimsuits and with inner tubes tied on top. Bluebonnet was curious. Where are they going? she asked. Tommy said “Schlitterbahn”, the best water park in the world.
